places I love (pacific northwestern adventures).

me. my best gal. a superbly overpriced malibu. and here we were. we started in San Francisco and ventured down to Big Sur to ring in 2016. a favorite place of mine, it was such a treat to be back. we kept it low-frills (after all, the malibu cost us one billion dollars), and stayed in the cutest little shanty at the Riverside Campground & Cabins. between views at Nepenthe, epic brunching at Big Sur Bakery, bands and beer at Fernwood and the pure wonder that is every corner, it was perfect.

From there we headed north through Napa and then back to the coast...ending up in Miranda, CA. Our cabin was slightly less shanty-like, and I could have spent days staring up at the Redwoods. Oh the Redwoods (worth noting, if you're here stop by the Riverwood Inn for a beer and a chat with the bartender. you can skip the food, but it's worth a visit!).

The last leg of our road adventure was up the coast and into Oregon. Just when you think things can't get more beautiful, they do. After a right turn toward Portland, we bunked up for the night at Ace Hotel, with great dinner company & fancy cocktails in a bunker. An unexpected snowstorm forced us to take our final day a little easier, with brunching, great coffee, and girl talk.

it's not often that you get five straight days of car chats (& karaoke) with someone you think is really, really great. even less often when you live in different states. it was the best of road trips...and I can't wait for the next one!
